As we prepare for the EMPOWER Race Series, we can’t help but reflect on how empowering 2017 has been - especially after hosting our first EMPOWER retreat last month. Twenty-five amazing Sweat Pink influencers and fitness enthusiasts came together for a sweaty weekend of Flex & Flow HIIT yoga, trail running, hiking, wine tasting, and scrumptious meals at Westerbeke Ranch in Sonoma, California. Our hearts must really love the Bay Area because we keep coming back!
The theme of the weekend centered on “empowerment,” the idea that it’s important to do what moves you, inspires you and makes you your best self. A very quick Google search will tell you that empowerment means “the process of becoming stronger and more confident, especially in controlling one's life and claiming one's rights.” Can you really find “empowerment” among a group of 25 sweaty strangers? Anytime women come together to motivate, encourage, and support one another, we know something powerful happens.
I now firmly believe that every woman should go on a retreat with other women they've never met before. I walked away from this experience a genuinely happier, calmer, more centered, and saner person. The week after, everyone on social media said I seemed more calm and happy and I solely agree. I've been sleeping better, waking up earlier, keeping my daily yoga practice up, and feel an immense gratitude to be a part of such the amazing group like Sweat Pink. I'm honored and humbled that these beautiful souls have accepted me into their tribe as one of their own and I cannot wait for the next retreat and Empowered Event's event.
During the weekend, we met and hung out with so many amazing women, from Katie, who solo-traveled through more than 35 countries, to Caren, who successfully left the corporate world last June to be her own boss (she’s killing it, by the way) to our own incredible team member and dear friend Becky, who has always excelled at everything she puts her mind to… and this time it includes law school, raising a rescue puppy, and growing the #sweatpink community!
We opened the weekend with ice-breakers (spirit animals and fun facts, anyone?) and ended with hugs and well wishes for future adventures. We made plans to stay in touch and cheer each other on as we took on new challenges, be it yoga inversions, trail running, business goals, or planning future retreats.
The weekend was more than fulfilling. It was invigorating and inspiring, and that was precisely the point. We felt inspired by the strong, caring, and hardworking women we met and all of our sweaty achievements, which is why we CANNOT WAIT for the race series this August. Will we see you there for another empowered weekend filled with yoga, running, and new friends? We hope so! Register here to join the fun.
